Every three years the Alliance host a Song Festival (Sängerfest) in one of the members cities, where choruses compete against one another in various categories. The Männerchor was a founding member of the Alliance in 1897 and has competed in most of the Sängerfests, winning many first and second prizes. Pittsburgh hosted festivals in 1939, 1971, and 1997, and most recently in 2024.
