Calliope School of Folk Music

Founded in 1976, Calliope is a nonprofit educational and presenting organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of traditional and contemporary folk music and its allied arts.

The school has provided thousands of students with the opportunity to explore the rich folk heritage available to them in western Pennsylvania. It is one of few schools in the region to offer courses in folk instruments and singing, keeping alive the endangered art of making and sharing music.
