The New Hazlett Theater

The New Hazlett Theater

The Hazlett Theater was built in 1889 as the first Carnegie Music Hall and was dedicated by President Benjamin Harrison. Designed in a Richardson Romanesque style, the Theater is part of an impressive historic landmark that also housed one of the first Carnegie Free Libraries in the country. It later became home to the Pittsburgh Public Theater.

It was re-named in 1980 in honor of Theodore L. Hazlett Jr., a prominent civic leader. When the Public moved downtown to the Cultural District, it was transformed in 2004 into the New Hazlett Theater.

The theater is available to rent. Thrill and delight your audiences with our state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, stadium seating and expansive stage. Make use of our balcony levels, color-changing LEDs and more!
