About The Pittsburgh A&E Book

Hello and welcome to the fifth edition of The Pittsburgh A&E Book.

For those of you new to the project, The Pittsburgh A&E Book is the region’s only professional directory to Pittsburgh’s arts and entertainment community/industry. The database traces directly back to the days when I was working with entities like the Joseph Horne Company and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, maintaining a “groups file” that I would reference almost daily. As other people learned about it, they would often turn to me for the information. Eventually, this information went into a formal database that led to The A&E Book.

The first A&E Book was published in 2001. Subsequent editions came out in 2002, 2003 and 2006. This one has been developed to cover the years 2009-2011.

With The A&E Book, anyone in the arts/entertainment field can locate whatever resources he/she needs. Whether you are a theatre company looking for props, a painter seeking arts supplies and exhibit space; a festival wanting a band or a filmmaker needing editing services, you can find it here.

This edition comes with some great new features. One is a “quick guide” on pages 6 and 7. It will help you located relevant resources much easier. The other new feature is a stand-alone web site at www.pittsburghaebook.com where you can access a free PDF of The Pittsburgh A&E Book.

On another note, please understand that this is a one man project. I handle everything myself from updating the database to designing the layout. As such, mistakes are not only possible, but probable. I’d appreciate your being gracious about it.

Thanks,
