I’m Rania Harris, an experienced caterer and cooking aficionado.
It’s a good thing that I love to cook, I’ve been doing it since I was 12! I was born in New York City, my mother worked and my father ran a diner in Harlem. When I was born, a neighbor, who was a German woodcrafter, gave my mother a rolling pin that he had made.
When I was 9 years old my family moved to Pittsburgh. In 1979, I began baking for restaurants and gourmet shops in the area, including Kaufmann’s Department Store bakery in downtown Pittsburgh. For 10 years, I baked and sold pastries, specializing in the pastries of my Greek Orthodox heritage. By word-of-mouth, my business grew and expanded into full-service catering.
